One Two Step

1 millennial: (noun)  somebody whose birth year ranges from the  late 1980s to early 2000s and reached  young-adulthood in the new millennium (or so said a compilation of Google definitions).

A whomping twenty five years (more or less) of passing trends that we wish we could forget, but we've had (and have) the blessing (or curse) of documenting our every fashion faux pas within Timmy Turner's golden excuse: the internet.

As a millennial myself, my inner pre-teen knows all too well the Juicy Couture track suits, the cardigans, the colored skinny jeans, the Fedoras and the whole black hole that is early 2000s fashion. All thanks to the style icons of that time: post-denim dress Britney (never forget), everything that was Mary Kate and Ashley and Lizzie McGuire (Hillary Duff). Yet when it comes to true iconic 90s fashion, I got the thin end of it.  The "what-is-accurate-for-an-elementary-school-girl"; synonymous to a mom jean here and there, Birkenstocks, never ending quirkiness, plastic everything jewelry, Lipsmacker lipgloss, and a poor intent of wanting to look like I belonged in Spice Girls. No Wynona Rider, no Kate Moss, no Rachel from Friends, and no Marc Jacobs Pre-Grunge.

Maybe that's why 90s fashion and the early 2000s fall-outs are influencing the fashion industry so much these past seasons.  Nostalgia has hit our generation, so we are having a go with all the fashion trends that we couldn't experiment as much as the luckier young adults of that time.

At least that's what I told myself when I chose to layer my slip-on dress over a white tee and paired it with my "you-can't-miss-from-two-blocks- away"  white socks.

Now all that's left to wonder is if my past self would be proud of my styling choice...

Whatever the case, I like to believe I'm still a pretty rad internet kid who's figuring out life, one questionable styling choice at a time.

Thrifted white tee // Urban Outfitters dress //  Free People sunnies // Nike trainers
